An Expression
It can be hard to know what to say, and harder to know what to do when there is so much pain around us. As freedom of speech becomes ever more precious, the importance of meaningful artistic expression grows. Following the release of The Christmas Project’s debut album “Comfort & Joy” last year, Dutch musicians Henk Kraaijeveld and Jan Willem Delft have joined with UK musician Clare Wheeler to create a piece of music that we hope can express some of the grief and sorrow we feel for our world, as well as invoking some hope for the future.
Coventry Carol
The Coventry Carol recounts the Massacre of the Innocents from Matthew’s gospel. In his desperation to retain power and control, King Herod commands the slaughter of every young boy under the age of two. This song depicts the heartbreaking lament of the mothers who know they will lose their children to the violence of the King. Sadly, this song still has relevance in today’s world. In a haunting yet bittersweet reimagining of the song, we bring English and Arabic together in this beautiful lullaby. A lament for the lost children, featuring the intricate vocals of London-based Egyptian singer Amena Elabd.
An Invitation to Add Your Voice
In September 2025 we collected submissions to form a virtual choir in exchange for a donation of any amount to Save The Children, a charity that works tirelessly for children in Gaza and worldwide affected by war, displacement, famine and disease. The submissions are currently being mixed into the final version of our arrangement of The Coventry Carol, which will be released on all streaming platforms in October, with a goal to raising further awareness of the war in Gaza, and continuing to raise more money for Save The Children.
